Robert J Bush's Obituary
Robert J Bush was born in Logan, Utah on March 30, 1943 to Charles V. Bush and Venetta Rae Weeks Bush.
He grew up in Ogden, Utah and attended Ben Lomond High School, graduating in 1961. He joined the Utah Army National Guard and shortly thereafter went through basic training at Fort Ord, California. After basic training he was granted a temporary leave of absence in order to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served for two and a half years in the Uruguay-Paraguay mission, becoming fluent in Spanish.
After his mission he transferred from the National Guard to the Air Force Reserve where he served for more than 20 years. He met and married Raylene Elmer; he claimed it was love at first sight. They had seven children who were and are the treasures of their life. After they retired they served a Senior Couple Mission in the West Indies, serving on the islands of Grenada and St. Lucia.
Bob made his living as a graphic artist, working as a civilian employee at the headquarters of the Air Force Reserve Command in Warner Robins, Georgia. He was also an avid golfer who enjoyed the outdoors. He served many callings in the LDS church including bishop and high counselor.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Raylene of PleasantGrove. Six children: Michelle Bush (Jan) of Castle Rock, CO; Marcy Serrano (Norman) of Pleasant Grove, UT; Kiersten Isom (Michael) of Lehi, UT; Robert Joel Bush (Dresden) of Pleasant Grove, UT; Joseph Bush (Melanie) of Orem, UT; and Gregory Bush (Blythe) of Pleasant Grove, UT. One brother: Gerald V. Bush (Louise) of Clinton, UT. He is also survived by one son-in-law, Dale Carter, of Byron, GA; 29 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five sisters; his daughter Janelle Carter, and a grandson, David Bush.
Memorial services will be held at 10am on Saturday, 19th of August, 2023 at the Garden First Ward meetinghouse of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: 745 N 600 W Pleasant Grove, UT. Following the service there will be time to visit with the family of the deceased. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to O.U.R (Operation Underground Railroad) or your favorite charitable organization, or go play a round of golf!
