Robert Leon Fullmer's Obituary
Dad celebrated Christmas Day by returning to the presence of our loving Heavenly Father and his eternal companion. He was born on February 15, 1933, in Spanish Fork, Utah, to June and Leon Fullmer. His early years were spent in the Payson and Spanish Fork area. He graduated from Payson High School and received a bachelor’s degree from BYU. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany.
Dad had an exceptional, award-winning gift for music.
He served three missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints: first as a young man in the Southern States Mission, later with his wife in the California San Jose Mission and then in the Salt Lake Inner City Mission. He lived his life as an active member of the Church and served in many different callings.
Dad had a long teaching career, but his most important lessons were taught to his family.
He spent the last hours of his life celebrating Christmas Eve in his home surrounded by his posterity.
He was humble, had a great sense of humor, and was kind to all he met.
He loved spending time with his family and was so proud of them. He loved the mountains, camping, playing horseshoes, and fishing, and he loved singing around the campfire.
He is survived by his children Mike (Mary) Fullmer, Danna (Jay) McBride, Lori (Gary) Thomas, Jeff (Brooklyn) Fullmer, Leslie (Shaun) Jager, Brian (Missy) Fullmer. Thirty grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, a great-great grandchild and more on the way . . .
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Jessie Merle Clayson Fullmer, his grandson Eric Robert Fullmer, his parents, his two sisters, Sharon Barnes and June Ann Windley, and many other loved ones that have gone before.
He prepared for this glorious reunion his entire life. Keep smiling, dad, people will wonder what you’re up to.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 31, at 11:00 a.m. at the Midvale 4th Ward chapel (87 E 7100 S). Viewing to be held prior to the service Saturday at 9:30 to 10:45 am. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, UT.
