Robert Leroy "Bob" Kite's Obituary
Bob Kite, age 89, of Crescent, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026. He was a loved Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and friend. He will be missed and cherished by all who knew him.
Born on April 4, 1937, Bob grew up in Crescent, Oklahoma. He attended The University of Tulsa on a football scholarship and studied petroleum engineering. While at Tulsa, Bob met his life partner, Nancy Seleeta Myers, marrying her on January 7, 1961. They spent 63 happy years together until her passing in May 2024. Bob served in the U.S. Army before beginning a long career as a petroleum engineer, starting in California with Atlantic Richfield before hiring on with Occidental Petroleum (Oxy). His work with Oxy took him to many places around the world, beginning with a transfer to Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1972. Bob and Nancy’s adventures and travels eventually took them as far as Australia, China, Scotland again, Bakersfield CA, and finally to Oman before retiring to north Texas in 1994.
In addition to travelling the world, Bob enjoyed golf, basketball, squash, football, and many other sports, even indoor cricket.
Bob always liked to make people laugh, was steadfast in his commitments, and was friendly to all.
Bob is survived by: Danny and Jeffrey Kite, his devoted children Stewart, Austin, Jack, Charles, Kevin, and Kira, his cherished grandchildren Theo, his great-grandchild, was born March 11, 2026. Many close relatives and friends from around the world
Bob was predeceased by: His parents, Fred King Kite and Mabel Bell Smith
His wife, Nancy Seleeta Kite. His sisters, Freda, Virginia, Dora, and Billy
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on a date to be determined at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson, OK.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to a charity of your choice in honor of Bob.
The family wishes to thank the Abbington staff for the care, support, and friendship given Bob and Nancy over these past few years, and we also wish to thank the Inspiration Home Health & Hospice team for the care, support and friendship provided to Bob these past few months.
Bob will be deeply missed and remembered for his kindness, humor, and unwavering love. May his soul rest in peace.
