I was deeply saddened to read of Ron's passing. Although it's been many, many years since I have been in your home I still remember this good-natured man with a gentle, kind spirit. As I read his obituary, those simple yet powerful words described him perfectly. He's left behind a wonderful family who will miss him immensely and because of his example strive to live their lives more perfectly. Dearest Shirley and Family - I shall always remember the happiness and joy which you and Ron shared wherever you went. He was a loving and kind "giant" of a man who will be sorely missed. Your some 63 years being married shall only be a small part of what you and Ron shall share eternally.

Learning about the passing of my dear neighbor and friend hit hard. It was such a blessing to live right across the street from Ron and Shirley and to feel so safe and so kindly "watched out for." I loved watching them raise their 9 children. I loved it when they'd put chairs out in front of their house and neighbors and friends would gather. I love the way they've lived their lives and the sweet, incredible influence they've had on SO MANY of us. I'm deeply grateful to be included in that number. How I wish I could be at the service on Monday (the 102nd anniversary of our Mother's birth)... but I'm in Calif and won't be back by then. I look forward to spending some time with Shirley.
