Ronnie and his friend Johnny were boarders in our home at 4 St. Johns Ave in Durban while I was growing up there in the mid 1950s, One of the fondest memories was a trip to the annual church convention in Rons Standard Vanguard , a old car made in England.. The car had a leaking head gasket which required a stop to fill the steaming engine every 50 miles or so. Needless to say the trip took us the whole night as each stop required an exploration of the countryside for water sources which were not very plentiful.By the way the trip was about 400 miles long.
