Ronald Richard Malzer's Obituary
Ronald Richard Malzer was born May 21, 1946 in Los Angeles, California to Velda
C. Malzer and Edward James (Mike} Malzer.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, and 6 children: Wendy (Matt) Anderson, Andrew (Emily) Malzer, Angela (Chris) Carter, Leann (Sid) Barzee, Jodie (Jon) Barron, and Brendalyn (Eric) Embley; 23 grandchildren and his sister, Marla (Ben) Trahan.
Ron grew up in California around the Mojave Desert, graduated from Antelope Valley High School, and attended 1 semester at Antelope Valley Jr. College. He worked for a year at NASA, Edwards AFB, and then in December 1965, accepted a call to serve in New Zealand as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
6 months after returning from his mission, Ron enlisted in the United States Army to become a calibration specialist. He went to school for 1 year in Maryland, served for 2 years in Germany, and was in the reserves for 2 years.
Ron and Linda met after his mission and before the army, and wrote letters while he was in Germany. Linda had moved to Utah, and Ron drove out to see her as soon as he was released. They were engaged 2 days later. They married on September 4, 1971 in the Los Angeles Temple, and have celebrated 52 years together living in Orem, Utah.
Ron worked as a General Contractor, building homes and remodeling for 38 years, and then hired on at UVRMC in the carpentry department. He retired in June 2011.
Ron has served faithfully in many and various callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but one of his favorites has been serving as a volunteer service missionary at the church welfare farm for the last 14 years.
Ron was loved by many people for his selfless service and interest in those he met. He made friends wherever he went, and loved to help others. He will be greatly missed.
