Ruth Sherrow Mecham's Obituary
Ruth Sherrow Mecham, age 68, passed away on November 29, 2022 in her childhood home in Murray, Utah. In 2017, Ruth was given a terminal cancer diagnosis after being in remission for 10 years. Although devastating to her loved ones, they are grateful for the time they’ve had with her since her diagnosis.
Ruth was born in Murray, Utah on July 11, 1954, the second of nine children, to John Leonard Sherrow and Gay Lundskog. Ruth was preceded in death by her father John Sherrow, her sister, Gayle Fort, her brother, Jay Sherrow and her brother-in-law, Lester Fort. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Mecham, her mother, Gay Lundskog Sherrow, her brothers, Alan Sherrow (Carla), Russell Sherrow (Ginger), Jeffrey Sherrow (Linda), and her sisters, Darlene Hansen (Jody), Jeanenne Doxey and Marcy Carson (Matthew).
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters and sons, Amanda Larsen (Justin) of Fillmore, UT, Andrew Mecham of Highland, UT, Austin Mecham (Allison) of Midvale, UT, Ashley Taylor (Patrick) of Twin Falls, ID, Ryan Mecham (Sam) of West Jordan, UT and four grandchildren, Braden Larsen, Bailey Larsen, Oline Taylor and Remington Mecham.
Ruth was a loving and devoted wife and mother, and she and Ron raised their five children together in Highland, Utah. Ron and Ruth celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary on August 16th, 2022.
Ruth was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing costumes, clothes and other creations for her family. She will also be remembered for the delicious meals and treats she made for her family and neighbors. Ruth loved her family fiercely and would do anything to make their lives easier and bring them joy.
Ruth was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She absolutely loved primary songs and could often be found singing them to her grandchildren. She was always smiling and upbeat, despite her many trials and health struggles. We are so grateful for her example of unconditional love and devotion to her family.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 10494 N. 4720 West Highland UT The viewing will begin at 9:30 am with the funeral following at 11:00 am. A viewing will also be held on Friday, December 9th from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Interment to follow at Highland Cemetery at 6200 W 11000 N, Highland, UT 84003.
