I completely love Sherma and cherish all the funny adventures we had at the library and in Europe. She is a great friend and a GREAT example to me of enjoying life, art, being understanding, welcoming, & staying classy as you grow older.
I started working at the library when I was 17 years old. The summer I was 19, we spent 3 weeks together traveling Europe with one of Kelly's tour groups. We had a BLAST and laughed so hard. Let me tell you-- there is nobody better to shop Paris with! One of my favorite my favorite memories that had us in fits of giggles-- she would still never let me tell---I will just say it involved a very slow double-doored elevator, too much shopping, and a bidet.
I got to camp overnight at a airport, see cathedrals, castles, go to the top of the Alps on a Gondola, art museums, Monet's gardens, and the Eiffel Tower with someone who truly cherished them as much as I did.
I worked with her for 8 years at the little old Kaysville City Library, where we were really a little family. Sherma was just the classy older sister in my eyes.
Sherma was so proud, and loved her family dearly. When we worked together, all the grandkids were still so young. She LOVED having them around. She loved hearing all that they were doing, all they were involved in, loved having them pop-in to see her working in their Halloween costumes, etc. When I started my little family, she would share some of her funny memories and experiences she had raising her boys. I don't know if you all have been told how she handled a dog ( I think it was) that bit one of her boys, but she was that good blend of feisty. :)
She truly is one of those kindred spirits in my life, that I had the blessing to be able to know and be friends with.
Much Love and condolences , Nikki (Carlson) Casey
