Sherrie Lynne Niederhauser's Obituary
Sherrie M. Niederhauser
Sherrie Niederhauser, age 72, passed away December 8, 2015. She was born February 14, 1943 in Provo, Utah to John (Jack) and Faye Milner. Sherrie graduated from South High School in 1960. She met Don Niederhauser on a blind date, and they later married on October 18, 1962 in the Logan Temple.
Sherrie worked at Health Care Credit Union from 1983 to 2009 when she retired. The many friendships she made during this time were some of her most valued and cherished friends.
She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving faithfully in many callings. She had a strong testimony and lived her life accordingly. Through service, she was an example to others. She enjoyed being an active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
She was mother to 6 children, and grandmother to 13 grandchildren. She was an amazing mother and grandmother. Her kids and grandkids were the central focus of her life. She and Don seldom missed a dance recital, choir performance, or sporting event for any of their kids. Sherrie carried on this tradition with the grandkids as well. You could not get through a conversation with either of them without hearing about all the things going on in each of the kids’ lives. When it came to her grandkids, the word “No” was seldom used. She had a special gift for connecting and having a deep personal relationship with each of her grandchildren. There were always many gatherings throughout the year at Grandma Sherrie’s house. Some favorites were her annual Easter egg coloring parties, Halloween parties, and Christmas parties. She also loved having volleyball competitions in her yard and would play until her arms were bruised and sore. Everyone always knew to be on guard at BBQ’s because she was often armed with a super soaker and you never knew when she was going to start the water fight.
Sherrie enjoyed watching most sports, but she loved to watch tennis. If you called or stopped by during any of the Grand Slam Tennis tournaments you would have to call back later or be quiet (especially when Roger Federer was playing).
To know Sherrie was to love Sherrie. She was full of life, and love for all. She had a unique way of touching all who knew her with kindness, love, and compassion. Sherrie also had an adventurous side. In the last few years her adventures included; snowmobiling, fishing, jeeping, rappelling, camping, indoor skydiving, zip lining and was even known to ride on the back of a Harley. Just a few months ago she was snorkeling, body surfing, and parasailing in Hawaii.
Survived by children: Ken, Lynne Evans (John Chambers), Mark (Barbie), Ed (Amanda), Andrea (Kody) Byrd, Kristin (Christopher) Stevens: brothers Doug Milner, Gary Milner; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by husband Don, and parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Monday December 14, 2015, and the Winder 7th Ward, 4350 South 1100 East. A viewing will be held Sunday, December 13th, from 6:00-8:00pm, and one hour prior to the funeral services at the church. Interment: Murray City Cemetery.
