Thera Lue Brady Johnson's Obituary
Thera Lue (Brady) Johnson, died on April 14, 2026 in Spanish Fork, UT, at the age of 94. Her daughter Michelle was next to her as she passed.
Thera was born on November 21, 1931, in Fairview, UT, to Marion Jehu Brady, Jr., and Rintha Maria (Christensen) Brady, the sixth of seven children. All of her siblings preceded her in death.
During Thera's childhood she lived in Sanpete County, mainly in Ephraim. At the age of 11, she moved with her family to Springville, UT, where she attended junior high and high school. Prior to her last year of high school, her family moved to Provo. She then attended the former Lincoln High School in Orem, from which she graduated.
Thera attended BYU after high school. She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Paris, France mission from 1957 to 1959. She graduated from BYU in 1960 with a degree in French.
In 1962 she married James Andrew Johnson, Jr. in the Manti temple. She and James lived in the Bay Area for five years in the 1960s, but moved back to Utah in 1968. Together they had four children.
Thera taught English and French in several schools, both in California and Utah. Her last school was Pleasant Grove Junior High School.
Thera was a very social person. She loved to dance. She said she would rather dance than eat. She was close to her family, including her extended family. She was extremely generous and kind, and had a great sense of humor. She was even making jokes when she could barely talk during the last month of her life.
Thera lived most of her life in Utah County, but she spoke often of Sanpete County, and was fond of telling stories from her childhood, as her children and grandchildren can attest. She returned to Sanpete County many times over the years, drafting anybody she could find to go with her. Nostalgia ran deep with her. She loved old movies and old houses. Her favorite actress was Bette Davis.
Thera is survived by her four children: Mark Johnson, Reno, Leslie Richman, Orem, Michelle Cooper, Frisco, TX, and David Johnson, Kyiv, Ukraine and 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Her memory will live strongly in all those who knew her.
Special thanks to Beehive Memory Care of Spanish Fork and Allyson Mickelson her hospice nurse for the excellent care that was given.
