Walter William Hoeltje's Obituary
Walter William Hoeltje, 75, of Layton, Utah, formerly of Saint Charles, Illinois passed away
Sunday, June 30th, 2024. Walter was born on June 1st, 1949 in Berwyn, Illinois, to Walter
William and Isabelle Antoinette (Prignano) Hoeltje.
Walter’s memory will be carried on by his three daughters, Tracy McClinton, Leanne Wright, and
Margaret (Alejandro) Hoeltje Camargo, as well as his brothers Donald Hoeltje and Keith
Worsley. He is also survived by his grandchildren Buddy Johnson, Cheyanne Hill, Nicholas
Johnson, Kyanna McClinton, Thomas McClinton III, Sophia Cantu, Nina Cantu, Jacob White,
and Alosa Camargo, as well as his great grandchildren Rainah Hill and Myles Hill. His greatest
joy was being a father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather's Devon Worsley, Ed Graczyk, and
John Swarts, and his brother Steven Worsley.
Walter spent his early years in Illinois and California.Walter went on to faithfully serve his
country in the 173rd Airborne Brigade of the United States Army in Vietnam from March 1970 to
February 1971.
Walter was a hard worker and always provided for his family. Throughout his life he had several
jobs, his last and most favorite was as Bar Manager at Ray’s Evergreen Tavern in Saint Charles,
Illinois, working for his dear friends Bernie and Patty Deutsch.
Walter loved the time he spent with his friends. He loved a good conversation, a great joke and
to reminisce. There are many friends he left behind, and many who went before him.
Outside of his family, Walter loved sports, in particular the Los Angeles Dodgers, Angels, and
the Raiders. He was also an avid fisherman and bowler. Walter was also a member of the
American Legion, VFW, and Moose Lodge.
His family would like to thank all of the healthcare professionals who took care of him over the
past few years.
In honoring Walter’s wishes there will be no services. When it came to the topic of funerals,
Walter always said “They’re not coming to mine, why should I go to theirs?”. In lieu of flowers
and for anyone who would like to honor his memory, donations may be made to the National
Kidney Foundation or Moose Charities, Inc.
