Ward George Glover's Obituary
Ward George Glover, aged 95, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2024. Born on April 13, 1929, in Lindon, Utah County, Utah, Ward lived a long and fulfilling life, touching the hearts of many with his kindness, wisdom, and generosity.
Ward moved to Lehi with his family in 1930, where he resided for several years. He was the only son of Arthur "Toff" George Glover and Delpha Hardman, and the middle child between two sisters, Joyce Glover Bentley and Donna Jean Glover. As an active and adventurous boy, Ward loved his family deeply and enjoyed exploring the outdoors. From a young age, he demonstrated a strong sense of duty, often accompanying his father on firefighting missions.
Ward worked for the Lehi City Fire Department and the Hercules Powder Plant before moving with his family to Kansas City, Kansas, where he worked at Sunflower. Later, the family relocated to Baraboo, Wisconsin. They returned to Utah in the early 1970s to raise their family. In 1974, Ward started his own heating and air-conditioning company, Deseret Heating and Air-conditioning, which he ran until his retirement.
Despite being an expert marksman and receiving an invitation to compete in the 1948 Olympics in London, Ward chose to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. From 1949 to 1951, he served valiantly in the Finnish Mission, returning to the USA on the Queen Mary.
After his mission, Ward married Donna Clara Morrissey in the Salt Lake City Temple in April 1952. They had three daughters: Cheryl Kay Adamson (Joel), Janet Delpha Glover-Vallone (Mike Cracroft), and Holly Pelch (Gary). They later divorced. On January 14, 1963, Ward married Lois Yvonne Wilson in Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada, and they were later sealed in the Manti Temple on June 26, 1971. They have one son, Guy W. Glover (Margene).
Ward was a loving father, grandfather to nine grandchildren—Joel David Adamson, Jr. (Lesa), Elisha Adamson Church (Clint), Marty Pelch (Danny Lemki), Brandy Pelch, Nick Vallone, Natalie Vallone, Faith Glover, Brandon Glover, and McKenna Glover—and great-grandfather to five great-grandchildren: Terrence Lemki, Dani Lemki, Mia Church, Landon Church, and Analiese Church.
Ward was a rockhound and loved fly fishing in Canada and Alaska, often tying his own flies. He enjoyed gardening and serving his family and friends. Ward had many hobbies including hunting, painting, mushroom hunting, and cooking. Even in retirement, Ward never stopped tinkering and helping others. In his later years, he cherished his morning breakfasts at Jim's Family Restaurant in Sandy. Ward had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and was always studying and learning.
Ward's legacy is one of generosity and community spirit. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, always striving to make the world a better place. His contributions left an indelible mark on those who knew him.
Ward is survived by his children: Cheryl Kay Adamson (Joel), Janet Delpha Glover-Vallone (Mike Cracroft), Holly Pelch (Gary), and Guy W. Glover (Margene); his grandchildren: Joel David Adamson, Jr. (Lesa), Elisha Adamson Church (Clint), Marty Pelch (Danny Lemki), Brandy Pelch, Nick Vallone, Natalie Vallone, Faith Glover, Brandon Glover, and McKenna Glover; and his great-grandchildren: Terrence Lemki, Dani Lemki, Mia Church, Landon Church, and Analiese Church. He was preceded in death by his parents "Toff" and Delpha, his wife Von, and two sons-in-law Joel Adamson and Ron Vallone.
A viewing will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024, at 10:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am, both at 235 East Sego Lily Drive (9800 S.), Sandy, Utah.
