William "Bill" Jenkin Williams' Obituary
William Jenkin Williams (Bill), 86, passed away on July 31, 2023 in Lindon, Utah after extended illness.
Bill was born on May 12, 1937 to William J and Dorothy in Malad, Idaho. He attended school in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1955. While living there, Bill fell in love with the girl next door, Rosemary Heath. They were married August 7, 1959 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Bill and Rosemary are parents to two children, Laurie Ann and William Jonathan.
He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1958, served as a Morse Code Operator in South Korea and was later promoted to Staff Sergeant. He was released from service in October 1962.
In 1968 he went on to study Educational Administration at Brigham Young University, where he received both his Bachelors and Masters Degrees. After graduating, Bill went to work for the Church Education System as a Seminary Teacher, Institute Director, and CES Coordinator.
Bill was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in many leadership callings in the church, including as bishop of the Tri-Valley Singles Ward.
In 1999, Bill retired from CES. He and Rosemary moved from Livermore, CA to Provo, Utah to be near BYU. He was a passionate Cougar fan. From 2000 to 2008, Bill served at the Missionary Training Center in Provo. During his time there he served as Branch and District President and as Executive Secretary. Bill also volunteered as a driver during the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. In 2017, Bill and Rosemary moved to Spring Gardens Senior Living in Lindon, Utah.
Bill will be remembered for his compassion, generosity and charisma. He was a great teacher, counselor and friend. He helped everyone recognize their potential and self worth. He was larger than life. He will be missed by all his family and friends. He was beloved by all.
Bill was preceded in death by his son Jonathan, brother Gerald, and parents, Bill and Dorothy. He is survived by his wife Rosemary, daughter Laurie Phelps (Gary), brother Michael Williams (Ann), and sister-in-law Linda Ricks (Gerald Williams). As well as his grandchildren Kristen Erickson (Aaron), Lisa Evans (Jake), Michelle Moody (Josh), Jordan Phelps, and Joshua Williams and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in Utah at a later date, when arrangements can be made for his sweetheart Rosemary to attend as she is healing from a recent fall. Details of the service will be updated here when available.
A memorial service will be held on September 23, 2023 at 1 pm at the LDS Church located at 320 W 500 N, Lindon, UT.
